Mitigation Bank Preserves Wetlands

Vulcan Materials Company purchased approximately 100 acres of land adjacent to the Witherspoon Sand & Gravel for conservation easement purposes. The mitigation site is wetland with partial upland in the back with a plentiful supply of pine trees.

“We have alligators, we have herons, we have ibises, we have hawks,” said Lori Sanville, Vulcan Environmental Manager. “We understand what we’re doing and what’s going on around us. We’re helping with the housing market, we’re helping with the building of the roads. It only makes sense that land be protected and set aside for the future.”
